A lot of food blogs and sites have been talking about Michael Gregsten’s new cookbook The Tao of Cooking. This is a book full of recipes for cooking with all the best new ingredients like the new soy sauce, rice, and tempeh. However, it also includes a section on Taoist principles of cooking. It gives some great insights to the practice of cooking (and eating) from a Taoist perspective.
I think this is probably the best thing I’ve seen on the web this week. Michael Gregstens new cookbook is not just a cookbook about cooking — it’s an exploration of the philosophy and practice of cooking that he put together to help others learn to cook. It’s a wonderful work that will help you to learn how to do all the things you love to do. It’s also full of recipes that have a lot of flavor and a lot of variety.
I agree with Michael, as long as you’re cooking something from a Taoist perspective, it’s a great book. For me personally I think the book is a bit dry. It’s almost like reading a cookbook that someone else cooked.
Michael is a chef. He also makes a lot of videos about his cooking methods, and one of them is a series of videos that he made up about the philosophy of cooking.
“I am a cooking teacher and I have taught thousands upon thousands of people how to cook. Some of these people have been with me for years. I am constantly teaching them new things, new ways to cook. But I have never taught any of them how to cook. I never taught him how to make a good roast or how to make a good soup when he was a kid. These people have been with me for years and they have never been taught how to cook before.
Michael Gregsten is a self-described “cooking geek.” I have never met him, but I know of him from his YouTube channel. He likes to make stuff up and promote it, telling people that they can be a “better cook than me.” That’s not true at all. I don’t even know how he makes this stuff up, but I’ll try to describe.
It is like if you were to ask someone who’s always telling you how to cook to help you cook. You would be amazed at how well they can cook. Gregsten’s videos are filled with recipes and tips and advice. For example, how much flour you should use to make a good risotto or how to season the meat before roasting.
